Handmade lap desk with intricate inlaid work
Gorgeous handmade lap desk with intricate inlaid ivory, wood & abalone. Sentimental engraved silver nameplate, "To Nina From Dave", graces the lid. Obviously, great care and meticulous craftsmanship were put into this piece given to "Nina" with a lot of love. Open the lid to reveal two forest postcard type scenes applied to the interior leather & trimmed in gold trim. Two compartments can be accessed, most likely for storing essential writing instruments & papers. There is even a ruler type guide. There is a small nick on the front left corner and only 3 small pieces of inlay seem to be missing. The desk measures 13" wide, 9 1/4" deep & 5" tall. What a wonderful conversation piece this would make for any collector. The inlay work is really remarkable!
